Netball

On Saturday we played a team that had already bet us by a lot and we won. We all went on the court hoping that we would come off with a win. The first quarter was great and we played really well. We got 10 goals in that quarter and they only got 1. In the second quarter was not as good but we still gained a big lead against them. They were not happy that we were beating them and they tried their hardest to catch up but in the end they couldn’t and the result was 21-8 to us which is a pretty reasonable win. We are playing them again this Saturday but we don’t know who will win because they won by heaps the time before when they played us and we won on Saturday so nobody knows who will win. We really hope we win!!

Friday fun!

On Friday night my friend and I went to youth group. It was a camera night. We all got into groups of 8-10 and grabbed a camera and a list of things that we had to take pictures of. One of the pictures  that we had to to take was that we had to fit as many people in the picture as possible so we were sneaky and went down to the photo place and all the TAC ball photos were there so we took a picture of them so we got heaps of people. Another one was to take a picture of one person in your group eating a hot chip. We thought we would go down to the fish and chip shop and ask for just one chip, but the chinese people didn’t understand why we only needed one and he kept saying $2 so we just bought a whole lot and had a feast. We had to work together as a team and next week we are finding out who won. (I hope my team does.)

The Band festival

OnThursday all of the senior band got ready to perform in the band festival. A lot of schools came to compete. There was a Jazz band section and a Orchestra section, a Symphonic band section and a primary symphonicband section. First was our Jazz band. They played three songs, a few people were confident enough to play a solo! Inthe end they ended up coming second. The symphonic band was playing at 12:00 so we all had to wait. We played six songs, eye of the tiger, Saint Louis blues rock, trumpet tune, Latin fire,  what a wonderful world  and  red thunder. We did really well we ended up coming second which was really good. It sad we didn’t come first but it it was still a really fun day and we worked hard for it.

Wearable arts!

On Saturday night my sister entered a wearable arts competition at the Founders Theatre. She made a really cool red outfit, it looked like a rose. It had a cool mask and a white pair of gloves. It had a black sweat heart neck bodice and a red skirt that had a whole lot of different red materials all folded over so the it looked like petals. When they were announcing the winners I was on the edge of my seat!! Unfortunately she didn’t get a placing but everyone in her category thought she should have come first. I did to!!! It was a really exciting night with singing and instruments playing in between each category. I am disappointed that she didn’t get a placing but I thought it was still the best. I hope she will win next time!!!!!!!

My fun in Auckland!!!

On Saturday my friend and I went up to Auckland. We went to the biggest shopping mall in NZ!! When we first arrived we had some food and then we got straight on with the shopping! We looked in all sorts of different shops but I didn’t really see anything I wanted. After we had looked at most of the shops in the shopping mall we headed to the centre of Auckland. We touched the sky tower but unfortunately we didn’t go up it because it was to much money. We went on the fairy to Davenport and had a look around. It was really cool on the boat. WE saw the Hilton Hotel it was HUGE! WE were going to go to r shortland street but e didn’t. We were sooooooooooooooo tempted to go to rainbows end but again it was to much money  =( We stopped at heaps of really awesome places to have drinks as well. We ended up leaving at about 7:00. Overall it was such a cool day I want to do it again very soon!!!

My goals review

Maths:

My maths goals are to work faster and to get in maths group 2

I am going to achieve this by concentrating on my work more and trying harder to get things right.

I did not achieve this but I feel I am getting harder things right.

Band:

To be able to play scoughbruogh by the end of the term!

I am going to achieve this by practicing.

I definatly have achieved this by practicing lots.

Sport:

I want to be able to swim 35 laos in the school pool by the end of term

I am going to achieve this by swimming lots.

I didn’t avheive this because we stopped swimming, but I am sure I can when we start swimming again.

The 70’s Disco

Last Thursday night there was a school disco!!!! The theme was the 70’s. My friend and I dressed up in 70’s clothes and did our hair. We tried to look the same as each other and we did pretty well. I wore an orange dress of my mum’s in the 70’s and my sister and her friend did my hair. They curled it so that it would go boof. Amber (my friend) wore a black dress also my mum’s when she was in the 70’s. She also got her hair done by my sister and her friend, and they also but makeup on us. It was kinda dark!

When we got there we were worried that we were going to be the only ones dressed up. But we weren’t, a lot of people dressed up. Some people wore wigs and flared trousers and bright tops. There was a prize for the best dressed but we didn’t win. There was cool music and we all danced and shouted. It was our second disco of the year. It was soooooooo cool and I can’t wait till the next one!!!!

My Science Fair project.

The past few weeks I have been working on my school science fair. My topic is How does the position that a container is placed in the microwave affect the cooking temperature? What I had to do for my experiment was to see if it matters where you put your container in the microwave. I originally thought that as the container got nearer to the edge of the microwave dishthat it would get hotter but I was wrong. It actually gets hotter in between the middle of the dish and the outeredge. This happens because the dish goes through more lines of the magnetic field.  If your wondering how the microwave was invented well ill tell you, back in the day there was someone sitting in a boat and the boat had a raider and the raider makes waves to see if there is any other boats way out or anything else. The man on the boat had a chocolate bar in his pocket and it melted and he relized that the waves from the raider had melted it!! And that how a microwave was invented and that is why it has microwaves. I found this topic quite interesting as I did not know how a microwave worked and if it does matter where your container is put on the microwave.
